Gangrape victim’s phone found in the house of an accused,S-I tells court

A sub-inspector deposing before the special fast-track court in the December 16 gangrape trial on Monday said the mobile phone of the 23-year-old rape victim was recovered from the house of one the accused in the case.

A sub-inspector deposing before the special fast-track court in the December 16 gangrape trial on Monday said the mobile phone of the 23-year-old rape victim was recovered from the house of one the accused in the case.

The S-I was part of the police team that accompanied Vinay Sharma and Pawan Gupta,two of the accused in the gangrape case,to their homes.

He told the court that a pair of bloodstained trousers and undergarments,allegedly belonging to Pawan,were recovered from his home.

The officer said a pair of leather shoes,which belonged the the rape victim’s friend,were recovered from Vinay’s home.

“He (Vinay) took out a polythene and from this polythene,took out a Nokia mobile phone model 3110. When IMEI of this mobile was checked,it tallied with the IMEI number of the victim,” the officer told the court of ASJ Yogesh Khanna.

He said Pawan led the police team to his jhuggi and showed his clothes,which he was wearing at the time of the incident.

“A Coca-Cola colour pant having bloodstains,one brown underwear having bloodstains,” the officer said.

Meanwhile,Vinay’s lawyer A P Singh reiterated his client’s plea seeking permission to undergo a lie detector test.
