A day after a video of a Nigerian man being beaten up by a mob in Malviya Nagar surfaced, police have arrested four more persons in connection with the case.

The four have been identified as Sanjeev alias Montu (26), Kamal Kant alias Chinku (27), Mahavir alias Sonu (27) and Mukesh Kadam (23), all residents of Savitri Nagar in Malviya Nagar, where the incident took place on September 24, police said.

Police said that one of the accused, Krishan Kumar, who was allegedly involved in the assault on Ahmad (27), was arrested Monday and a case under Section 308 of the IPC was registered at Malviya Nagar Police station.  Ahmad was caught by residents for allegedly trying to steal from a house. On hearing the commotion, the accused came out of their house and allegedly beat up Ahmad with sticks. A video of the incident went viral Monday.

A police officer said they have identified a few more people, including the person who recorded the video. A source said police are yet to find Ahmad’s Delhi address. “We have written to the Embassy seeking more details. Their reply is yet to come,” said the officer.  Police sources said a team Tuesday went to Tihar to meet Ahmad. “He was asked about his local address, passport and when he came to India, but he did not cooperate,” said a source, adding that he did not mention anything about the incident either.

Kumar had claimed that a man broke into his house and tried to run away with valuables. Based on the complaint, a case was registered against Ahmad.
