IM men held Feroze was in Delhi to facilitate Haj trips, says father; he has been trapped, says mother.
Sayyed Feroze (38),one of the three Indian Mujahideen suspects arrested by the Delhi Police in connection with the low-intensity blasts in Pune, ran two garment shops both named Options by Feroz in Pune Camp.
His father said Feroze, who lives with his wife, two daughters and two sons in Guruwar Peth,Pune, had last met him about about 20 days ago and told him he was going to Delhi to facilitate Haj trips of some people.
On Thursday,Delhi Police announced that Feroze had been picked up from the Nizamuddin railway station and a bag containing explosives was seized from him.
His cousin Sarfaraz Quazi and business partner Mohseen Bagwan, who were at the shops, told Newsline that Feroze left Pune a few days ago for work. They were unable to give further details. The shops deal in readymade garments. The shop on Gaffar Baig Street,in Pune, has been there for the past four years, and the other on Jaan Mohammed Street,a few hundred metres from the first, was inaugurated recently during Ramzan,Quazi said.
Ferozes father Abdul Hameed runs a milk agency in Shukrawar Peth,Pune, and stays in Danish Apartments building in the area.
Hameed said: He has not been living here (Shukrawar Peth) for the past 10 years. About 20 days ago,he told me he was going to Delhi to facilitate visa procedures for Haj pilgrims. He had gone there for similar reasons two-three times in the past.
Delhi Police claimed that Feroze met Lashkar-e-Taiba operative Fayyaz Ahmed Qaqzi in Saudi Arabia.
Ferozes mother, who saw her sons name flashed on TV on Thursday, said: My son cannot do anything like this. He has been trapped.
Ferozes father said: He has two sons and two daughters from his wife Shagufta. We do not know where they are right now. Feroze has always been running these shops from rented premises. Every time the lease expires,he changes location.
Feroze completed Class X from Shivaji Maratha High School in Shukrawar Peth and lived in a small apartment in Grace Corner building in Mominpura area of Guruwar Peth. The apartment is locked.
None of his relatives or friends could say where his family was at present. Workers at the adjacent tailoring shop said they had last seen the family a couple of weeks ago. A neighbour said,Ferozes family has been staying here for the last few years. They seldom communicated with others.
His partner Mohseen Bagwaan said,We have been doing business together for the last four-five years. He occasionally goes out of station to purchase cloth for sherwanis. He travels to various locations and I look after the shops with the help of others.
Ferozes cousin Quazi asked: Do you believe someone who runs a full-time business can do something like this?
