A 27-year-old man has approached police, alleging that he was assaulted by his estranged wife and brothers-in-law in an attempt to take away valuables she brought at the time of their wedding.

Police said Kishan, who is from Bijnore in UP and works at a beauty parlour, alleged that his wife, two brothers-in-law and his father-in-law came to his house around 8.45 pm on September 10.

His wife, who has been living separately for the past seven months, demanded that certain articles such as furniture in the house should be returned to her immediately, police said.

When Kishan refused, they allegedly assaulted him. “When I resisted,my father-in-law and my wife’s brothers beat me with sticks. My wife abused me. When I shouted for help, they fled,” Kishan alleged.

He then made a PCR call and police took him to AIIMS Trauma Centre. He was administered first aid and discharged.
