Eleven children injured as school bus hits divider

At least 11 schoolchildren were injured after their bus accidentally swerved onto a divider near Buland Masjid at Shastri Nagar on Monday. Around 7.40 am, when students of Swami Harianand Public School were going to school in a minibus, the driver lost control and drove the bus onto a divider. The driver fled. The injured, aged between 10 and 14 years, are Mansvi, Rishabh, Sahil, Sandhya, Ajshat, Jatin, Prashant, Naman, Neha, Ishika and Apurva. The children are residents of Usmanpur, Kartar Nagar and Bhajanpura areas. Eyewitnesses said the driver, who was speeding, failed to hit the brake when an auto-rickshaw came in front of the bus and swerved it towards the divider. “On receiving a PCR call, police rushed to the spot. The injured were rushed to Jag Prawesh Hospital and Nehru Hospital from where they were discharged after first aid was given,” a police officer said.
