The East Municipal Corporation has begun regularising sub-divided plots, some as small as 42 square yards,in unauthorised-regularised colonies.

On Thursday, the civic agency approved the regularisation of two sub-divided plots in Shahdara (South). The East Municipal Corporation is first among the civic agencies in the city to legally recognise sub-divided plots.

The corporation granted approval to a plot of 116 square yards and to another plot of 45.5 square yards in Bhola Nath Nagar,Shahdara (South).

“The erstwhile MCD had received permission from the Ministry of Urban Development to sanction the sub-divided plots,up to 40 square yards,in village abadis, special areas and unauthorised regularised colonies. The East corporation will recognise the plots,sub-divided till February 8,2007,” said Mehak Singh Chaudhary,Chairperson of the Standing Committee.

Officials said the owner has to pay the regularising fee and meet the pre-requisite norms laid down by Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

The sub-divided plot also needs to conform with the Master Plan-2021.
