The Delhi University on Monday announced a tentative date to start the admission process for its under-graduate courses.
Dean of Students Welfare Office in a statement said: The registration process will begin tentatively from June 5,2013. The complete schedule will be announced soon.
The statement said the common pre-admission forms (OMR) will be available both online and over the counter.
The registration process has undergone a few changes this year, with the university doing away with sale of forms at post offices. On the other hand, the number of colleges where the forms will be available has been increased.
Last year, there were around 10 colleges and 10 post offices where forms were sold. This year, the number of college centres has been increased to 18, Dean of Students Welfare J M Khurana said.
Khurana said the number of centres for sale of forms has not been been decreased, but since students want to take a look at colleges when they are applying for admission, more colleges have been allowed sale of forms.
The the college choice section of the OMR forms has also been changed.
Many a time, students do not get admission to a college because they did not choose the college as an option in the OMR form. Even though they meet the cut-off percentage, they are unable to get admission there. To make it easier for students,we are planning to leave all colleges open to them. The student will have to choose his/her main discipline in the form and they can take admission in any college,as long as they meet the cut-off percentage, Khurana said.
Kiosks providing information about various courses and colleges will be set up on college campuses. DU is also trying to set up kiosks at Metro stations and provide admission information through text messages.
The university is also expected to put up maps showing DU colleges across Delhi.
