Driver held for robbing aged couple in Kalkaji

Over a week after a senior citizen couple was tied up and robbed at their residence,police arrested three persons,including the driver of the couple.

Over a week after a senior citizen couple was tied up and robbed at their residence,police arrested three persons,including the driver of the couple.

On March 5,the couple Kanwalninder Singh Lamba (71) and his wife Kulwant Kaur (67) were in their house in Kalkaji when two men barged into the house,held the couple at knife-point and robbed them.

According to police,during investigation,all persons known to the family were questioned.

Their driver,Vikas Kumar,went missing after the incident,making him a prime suspect.

Acting on a tip-off,on Tuesday,the police arrested Vikas Kumar from Sarai Kale Khan in Southeast Delhi.

“Based on information provided by Vikas,we arrested his associates Rahul and Sunny. Vikas knew that the couple kept large sums of money in the house. He masterminded the robbery. We have recovered all the stolen items — Rs 20 lakh cash and jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh from the arrested men,” Ajay Chaudhari,Additional Commissioner of Police (Southeast) said.
