A minor fire was reported at the Revenue department of the Finance Ministry early on Thursday morning.

No casualties were reported in the incident,but records,documents and equipment were destroyed in the incident.

The incident was reported at 5.45 am on Thursday after a security guard made a PCR call. The fire department and police rushed to the spot. Rooms 14 and 15 were gutted in the blaze and police said important documents and equipment like computers and furniture were destroyed in the blaze.

Police said six fire tenders reached the spot and the fire was doused in a few minutes.

According to police,the fire was noticed four hours after it had started. Prima facie,police said,a short circuit might have triggered the incident. “It appears to be an accident. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained,” said a senior police officer.
