Committed to its summer action plan, the Delhi Jal Board has ramped up water production and tanker services. It has optimised production at all its treatment plants to produce over 830 million gallons per day (MGD) in peak summer.

The DJB’s optimal production at its treatment plants has gone up from 818 MGD on April 27 to 832 MGD on May 7, a statement issued by the water utility on Wednesday said.

“Timely completion of preventive maintenance work at all water supply installations have made it possible to meet the target and improve water availability in Delhi during summer,” the statement said. A Jal Board official said the tanker service has also been ramped up.

Tankers will now do more than 5,100 trips per day as compared to 4,100 trips per day last year, the statement said.

“It is pertinent to mention that by improving efficiency of tanker delivery services, the number of trips have been increased without engaging additional tankers. By adding 23 additional water filling hydrants, filling efficiency of tankers has improved, resulting in a reduction in the turnaround time of tankers,” the official said.
