The MCD has been split into three and now its the division of staff that is proving tough for the officials.

Out of 38 transfers and postings, eight officers have been given additional charge of two other corporations and 13 officers have to double up as head of departments. Meanwhile, eight have been left in a limbo and will be placed as per the discretion of corporations.

The 13 officers — including two engineers-in-chief and directors of various segments like community service, veterinary services, hospital administration and AYUSH — have been given additional charge as head of departments. “This is an interim arrangement till the posts are filled up by promotion on regular basis,in consultation with the UPSC as per the approved recruitment rules,” the order states.

Three deputy commissioners — Simran Bhullar,Virendra Kumar and C A Dhan — along with five additional deputy commissioners have been “placed at the disposal of their respective corporations”.

Finance officer Mayank Sharma,Assessor and Collector M S A Khan,Chief Law Officer Praveen Shukla,Director-Horticulture S S Kandpal,Director Press and Information Yogender Mann and Chief Town Planner Shamsher Singh have been given additional charge of extra corporations.

As far as municipal secretary office is concerned, the government is yet to depute officials. Kiran Dabral, former municipal secretary, has been designated as additional commissioner.

The officials who have been given additional charge as HoDs and other posts feel that working for a unified corporation was easier.

“Earlier we had to work for one corporation, now we have to do one task three times, which will make it hectic and unnecessarily taxing. There is no getting away from the additional task we have been given,” said a senior official.
