After clear weather for the past few days, Delhi Wednesday witnessed dense fog — its first of the season — with a sharp dip in temperature that brought chill to the air. Visibility across the national capital as well as National Capital Region reduced considerably, slowing down the movement of vehicles on streets.
The minimum temperature recorded in the morning was 9.7 degrees Celsius, the lowest so far of the season. The maximum temperature in the day is likely to hover around 28 degrees Celsius.
Flight operations have been affected at Delhi and Lucknow airport due to dense fog. So far 18 flights and 50 trains have been delayed or rescheduled. 13 flights have been diverted from Delhi’s IGI airport as season’s first fog blankets the national capital.
According to MET department, temperature would decrease further in the coming days and fog would also intensify. Pollution levels are also expected to spike.
