Grappling with shortage of smaller currency notes since demonetisation, the Delhi Metro has increased its maximum top up limit on smart cards from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000. This will remain in effect till December 31, an official DMRC statement read.
Watch what else is making news:
“The decision to increase the maximum top up limit has been taken to facilitate commuters who might come with Rs 2,000 notes to top up their smart cards. With the present maximum top up ceiling of Rs 1,000, it would have created problems in the availability of adequate currency notes for passengers, and notes to be returned to such passengers,” said the statement.
