Delhi man arrested for ‘having sex with corpse’

A 24-year-old man was arrested from southeast Delhi’s Sunlight Colony for allegedly having “unnatural sex” with a woman’s corpse. According to police, initial investigation has revealed that the accused, identified as Anil, is a drug addict and mentally unstable.

Police said the incident came to light at 3.45 pm on December 4, when a pedestrian at Sarai Kale Khan bus stand saw Anil trying to have “unnatural sex” with the body of a woman, found abandoned along the Yamuna river bank. “The passerby made a PCR call, following which a team was sent to the spot and the accused was arrested,” an officer said.

The accused has been sent to judicial custody and jail authorities have been asked to get him medically and psychologically examined, the officer said. The woman, who appears to be in her 30s, has not been identified so far. Her face has been smashed with a stone and she appears have been strangled.

Police said Anil told him that another person had also sexually assaulted the body. Police are trying to ascertain if that is true. Anil has, however, denied murdering the woman, police said, adding that they are trying to ascertain if the woman had been sexually assaulted before the murder.
