Days after DANICS officers in the Delhi government went on mass leave to protest the suspension of two compatriots, the Delhi government may effect a reshuffle of senior bureaucrats.

Sources in the government said the reshuffle may even involve senior positions in the Delhi government, including positions in the Home and Public Works departments.

“The list has been drawn and it is almost certain that the home department will be affected,” said a senior official. It has also been claimed that with Chetan B Sanghi on a month-long leave, the PWD is likely to be handed over to vigilance head Sukesh Kumar Jain. Sources claimed that 30 to 40 officials are slated to be reshuffled.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung wrote to the Delhi government citing the MHA’s response to the suspension of two DANICS officers in home department. The Lt Governor has asked the chief secretary to revoke the suspension. The communication, which the chief secretary forwarded to the department, states, “MHA, Government of India having examined the matter has observed that the Union Home minister is Appointing and Disciplinary Authority in respect of Group A officers of DANICS and no general or specific orders for delegation of powers of suspension belonging to Group A DANICS to any authority in GNCTD have been issued.”
