Investigations into the deaths of Geeta Sharma (45) and her live-in partner Badrish Dutt (45) have revealed that Geeta was spying on her partner. Police, however, are not certain if this was the reason that led the Delhi Police inspector to shoot her dead and then end his life.

Geeta ran a detective agency in Saket and moved to Delhi from Mumbai after the death of her first husband in 1993.

Maheshwar Dayal,Joint Commissioner of Police, said,“Badrish met Geeta a couple of years ago, when he hired her detective agency to spy on his wife.”

Police said Geeta played a major role in creating a misunderstanding between Badrish and his wife, and the he filed for divorce a year ago.

Dayal said Geeta was spying on Badrish on a personal level.

Sources said she was also upset that Badrish did not visit her in Tihar Jail and did not help her get bail when she was arrested for forgery.

Neighbours at Geeta’s Ardee City,Gurgaon, home said Geeta remarried and her second husband was also associated with an investigating agency. She changed her name to Geeta Saxena, which is also mentioned on the nameplate at her residence.

Neighbours said they had not seen Geeta’s second husband visit her in the past three year.

Police said Geeta’s brother and sister flew in from Mumbai, after they heard about her death, and took her body back to Mumbai soon after the post-mortem examination to conduct the last rites.

Residents in Ardee City said they knew “very little” about Geeta as she hardly interacted with anyone. They said she kept to herself and usually returned late night from work.
