New Delhi: Three days after a six-year-old student of Delhi Public School,Ghaziabad,was sexually abused allegedly by the schoolbus driver and conductor,the school suspended the transport supervisor and the bus contractor. The teacher in-charge of the bus has also been suspended. Principal Sharmila Chaterji said: I am sorry for the incident,which occurred on our campus and accept the responsibility of the management in the case.
Woman found dead in North Delhi home
New Delhi: A 58-year-old woman was found murdered inside her Lahori Gate residence in North Delhi on Monday. Geeta Nigam,a divorcee,lived with her brother and sister. Police said she was hit on the head with a heavy object and bled to death. Police suspect it to be a case of robbery gone wrong. The house was found ransacked. Her family said Rs 1.5 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 2 lakh were missing from the house.
Robbers held for killing accomplice
New Delhi: Two men were arrested on Sunday for allegedly kidnapping and murdering an associate. Police said Surender and Zakir were angry over Ishan for not equally dividing the booty from a robbery. On August 3,Ishans wife Sonam had filed a missing complaint for her husband. She told police Ishan had gone to Lucknow with his friends and never returned. His phone was switched off and his friends,too,had not returned her calls. Police are also looking for three others Sehnawaz,Rakesh and Israil in the case.
Police told to protect inter-caste couple
New Delhi: A city court has directed the Delhi Police to provide security to a woman,who feared her father might harm her husband as she married outside the caste. The womans father had filed a complaint against the man alleging that he had kidnapped and raped his daughter,after the couple eloped and married in February. Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau acquitted the man of the charges of kidnap and rape after the woman testified that she had him married willingly.
Court grants interim bail to Kandas brother
New Delhi: Govind Kanda,brother of former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda who is an accused in the Geetika Sharma suicide case,was on Monday granted interim bail by a Delhi court in a case of evading appearance in a 14-year-old cheque bounce case. District Judge H S Sharma granted interim bail to Govind till September 21 on a personal bond of Rs 10,000 with a surety of an equivalent amount.
