An 11-year-old girl was allegedly molested and a video of the act was shot in southeast Delhi’s Ambedkar Nagar. Police said they have arrested two persons, including the one who had allegedly recorded the video.

On Tuesday afternoon, the girl’s father approached police with a complaint that his daughter was molested by a shopkeeper when she had gone to buy groceries. He alleged that the accused touched the girl inappropriately on the pretext of showing her some things she could buy, police said.

A man, who was present in the shop, captured the incident. The man then circulated the video on some local WhatsApp groups, following which the father of the girl learnt about the incident, he said in the complaint.

DCP Romil Baaniya confirmed the complaint. “The accused shopkeeper, Ram Kishan (67), was arrested from his house. A case under IPC Section 354A and Section 8 of the POCSO Act was registered,” said Baaniya.

Based on a supplementary statement by the complainant alleging that his neighbour had recorded the video, he, too, was arrested, police said.
