Delhi: 2 cops killed in accidents

Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma condoled the demise of the two officers.

Two Delhi Police personnel died in two separate accidents in central Delhi Sunday night. The accidents happened in Chanakyapuri and Tughlak Road areas.

Manoj Kumar (50) an Assistant Sub-Inspector with the Traffic Police, was run over by an unidentified vehicle near Ashoka Hotel in Chanakyapuri. Police are scanning CCTV footage of the area to identify the vehicle.

Constable Arvind was mowed down by a cab near Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s residence,
said police.

Passersby caught hold of the cab driver, identified as Sandip, and handed him over to police. Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma condoled the demise of the two officers.

In a tweet, Verma said, “Both dedicated men died on duty. My deepest condolences to their bereaved families. May their souls rest in peace.”
