Ten constables posted at two separate police stations have been suspended for allegedly failing to prevent the illegal sale of liquor and the operation of betting rackets in areas under their jurisdiction. The policemen were posted at Bhajanpura and Nand Nagari police stations, said sources.
DCP (northeast) AK Singla confirmed the suspension of the policemen. The orders were issued on the basis of an inquiry which was conducted after receiving complaints about the constables, said a police official.
