The Delhi Daredevils on Monday launched their Members Club with Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, becoming its first member. GMR Sports chairman Srinivas Bommidala handed Dikshit the first card — a Gold card — for a membership fee of Rs 999.

The club will offer several benefits, including discounts on match tickets, attending team practices and getting to meet the players after matches. “I believe it will create greater awareness and greater commitment among the fans and help them watch matches without running from pillar to post,” Dikshit said.

Former India opener and DDCA vice-president Chetan Chauhan said: “It’s a good concept and very similar to football clubs abroad where the members support and cheer their teams.”

There are two types of memberships — Red card (with an annual fee of Rs 99) and Gold card (annual fee Rs 999),each having different benefits. The registration of membership will start from tomorrow.
