It was 1977. Disco queen Donna Summer released her most popular album I Feel Love and a month later Elvis Presley, the king of rock n roll, was found dead. But 1977 was also the year that American guitarist Nile Rodgers formed Chic, the iconic R&B-funk-disco band. For those who have grown up dancing and singing Le freak,I want your love and Dance, dance, dance, its time to boogie some more as Rodgers brings Chic to Delhi this year. As the Delhi leg of NH7 Weekender music festival enters its second year, the band will be the headlining act at The Dewarists stage. Rodgers ruled the 80s and the 90s,added that extra zing to old school hip hop and produced albums of some of the greatest pop icons, from Madonna,David Bowie, and Duran Duran to Daft Punk recently.
The festival,on November 30 and December 1,will be held at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida. The Delhi line-up is exciting to say the least with Meshuggah (Swedish metal act),MUTEMATH (American alt-rockers),Dry the River (British indie folk band) and break-beat artiste J Viewz, performing at various stages over two days. Lahore-based sufi-rock outfit Mekaal Hasan Band and Pakistani pop-rockers Noori will also perform at the festival, apart from Lucky Ali and Kailash Khers band Kailasa.
The festival will be high on EDM with artistes such as Delhi-based Nucleya,FRAME/ FRAME and Swaggamuffin performing alongside world-renowned EDM stars such as Michal Menert of Pretty Lights (American electro-hip hop act),Los Angeles-based producer Kill Paris and London-based drum and bass producer Benga.
