Domestic help commits suicide
Noida: A 30-year-old man committed suicide by consuming sulphas tablets on Thursday. A 26-year-old woman in whose house he was working as a help,also attempted suicide by consuming the tablets. Satbeer Singh,a businessman,discovered that his wife,Sudesh (26) had consumed the medicines together with household help Gulab. Anil Samania,Sector-39 SHO,said: “We suspect the two were having an affair. Gulab was admitted to Prayag Hospital where he died. Sudesh was admitted to Kailash Hospital,where doctors say she is critical. We have found a suicide note written by Sudesh saying that her mother-in-law was harassing her.”

Cops sentenced for taking bribe,get bail
New Delhi: A city court on Friday sentenced two suspended Delhi Police personnel to one and two years in jail for accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a man for allowing him to construct a wall in his shop here in 1996. Special CBI Judge S P Garg awarded a two-year jail term to Krishna Kumar,then SHO of Preet Vihar Police station,while co-convict Satyanarayan,a sub-inspector,was sentenced to one-year in prison. They were granted a statutory bail on furnishing a personal and surety bond of Rs 10,000 each.

Five hurt in cylinder burst
New delhi: Five persons suffered burn injuries,two of them serious,after a cylinder burst in a hotel in Rohini on Friday. The five injured have been identified as Narendra,with 90 per cent burns,Rakesh,with 70 per cent burns,Udai Veer,Azad and Madan Lal. The police said all of them were admitted in hospital and are undergoing treatment. A case has been registered against Lal,owner of the hotel.

4 held for attack on constable
NEW DELHI: Four persons were arrested from Narela for allegedly attempting to murder a Delhi Police constable. “Deepak (22),Sanjay (28),Tilak Raj (24) and Manoj Kumar (34) have been arrested for attempted murder,while three others are absconding,” DCP,Outer Delhi,Atul Katiyar said. On March 5,Constable Kailash Kumar was shot at by two youths on a bike. The shooter missed and hit the youth driving the bike instead. The driver died on the spot,while the pillion rider fled.

Priest injured in temple robbery
NEW DELHI: A priest was attacked by four assailants in Mehrauli on Friday. The police said the assailants decamped with gold jewellery from the Shiva temple in Maandi village. The police said they suspect local youths could be involved.
