A special CBI court on Monday extended the police remand period of municipal corporation assistant engineer M K Gupta,accused in a bribery case involving Micromax co-founder Rajesh Agarwal,till August 23. The court of Additional Sessions Judge Poonam Bhambha extended the custody after the CBI informed the court that senior officials of the North Municipal Corporation were interested in the regularisation of the unauthorised construction of the property owned by Agarwal. The other accused,including the Micromax owners,were sent in 14-day judicial remand.
Rakhi: Parliament holiday tomorrow
Fanning confusion over the Rakshabandhan festival as celebrated in Delhi,the Parliament has declared a holiday for the same on Wednesday. Most other Central and state government offices,on the other hand,are treating Tuesday as a restricted holiday for Rakhi. The judiciary,including the Supreme Court,Delhi High Court and lower courts in Delhi will remain shut on Tuesday. Delhi Metro will launch its first eight-coach train to handle the Rakhi rush on Tuesday. DTC will offer free rides to women on the occasion on Tuesday. Schools under the Delhi government and municipal corporations will also remain closed on Tuesday.
6D theatre launched in IGI Airport
The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) operator Delhi International Airport Limited has launched a 6D cinema theatre at Terminal 1D of the IGI airport. This is the first airport in India to get a 6D cinema hall. Launched under the brand name iRido 6D,the theatre features six degrees of seat movements and 21 special effects that simulate experiences like water spray,air blast,bubbles,rain,smoke,fire,fog,snow,leg ticklers,pokers etc. Each show in the theatre will last 15 minutes and tickets are priced at Rs 250 (taxes extra).
