Constable who ‘pushed’ elderly man arrested

Three days after he allegedly pushed a senior citizen who later died,a Delhi Police constable was arrested on Saturday.

Three days after he allegedly pushed a senior citizen who later died,a Delhi Police constable was arrested on Saturday.

Police had received a complaint against Vikram Singh,inducted into the force in 2008,who had allegedly pushed Anil Kumar,66. Kumar had allegedly intervened in an argument between his son Mohit and Singh in Dhaula Kuan on February 28.

“Singh had been suspended from duty,pending an inquiry,after the victim died after being pushed by the officer. He has now been arrested,” said a police officer.

According to Mohit,Singh had pushed Anil Kumar when the latter tried to intervene in an argument that he was having with the constable. Mohit had reportedly approached Singh for water.

Anil tried to intervene but was allegedly shoved by the constable,after which he fell unconscious.

He was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
