A week after the BJP announced street corner meetings in all municipal wards in the city,the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) has followed suit.
Delhi Congress chief J P Agarwal directed all party workers including MPs,MLAs and municipal councillors to not only hold street corner meetings,but also organise padyatras every month to gauge public sentiment on governments performance.
Chairing a meeting of all block and district level presidents and observers,Agarwal stressed on the need to improve the connect between the party and voters,particularly since Assembly elections are just months away. The Delhi Assembly elections are around the corner,so I have directed all party office-bearers and workers to engage in people-contact programmes. Padyatras will be held in every district and block under the leadership of the district and block Congress committee presidents, Agarwal said.
According to Agarwal,the aim of the padyatras would be better contact with residents to understand their problems and help solve them.
A corner meeting will also be held every month,in which the achievements of Union and Delhi governments will be taken to the people for their proper understanding, the DPCC president said.
He said every month,meetings of all office-bearers will also be conducted,in which problems of residents of the city would be discussed.
All Congress workers,MPs,MLAs,municipal councillors and observers will participate in the padyatra, Agarwal said.
