Red hot
Sometimes one does pity TV actors. Mohit Sehgal who plays Samrat on the show Miley Jab Hum Tum recently had to chomp on green chillies to lend authenticity to a scene. In the sequence,Samrat and Gunjan, played by Sanaya, enter a contest which requires couples to eat green chillies. According the rule,if one contestant backed out,his/her partner would have to eat double their quota. The scene required Gunjan to back out,so Samrat ended up eating 10 chillies instead of five. But real life is not so easy, and because of retakes,Mohit ended up eating 20 green chillies. The fact that he did so without complaining shows his commitment to his work. Had it been us,we would definitely have revolted.

Permanently bad
Varun Khandelwal who started out in the industry by playing the bad kid in Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki and Aathvan Vachan is now back in the limelight playing the bad boy in NDTV Imagine’s latest sitcom Jyoti. Varun seems to be the perfect pick for the role with his baddie influence not just working with the audiences but on the sets as well. In fact, the crew thinks that nobody else could have looked and behaved the part this well. Varun is obviously flattered by the appreciation and says,“I feel that my acting is being appreciated and that if I can instill anger in the viewer,I have given a good shot.” That comes straight from the big,bad wolf’s mouth.

Multi-talented
Indian football skipper Baichung Bhutia is going to be the new heartthrob after Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. He leads from the front,be it football or dance. Replacing Olympian boxer Vijender Singh on the show,Baichung had only three days of practice before taking the floor. But the ease with which this footballer moved, had everyone flipping for him. His talents on the football field had already won him many fans, but Baichung’s shy smile and endearing ways are sure to win him some more.

Mermaid man
The main leads of Sapna Babul Ka…Bidaai on Star Plus are back after shooting Ranbir and Ragini’s honeymoon sequence in Kerala, and going by the pictures, the cast had loads of fun during the shoot. One saw the hidden talent of actor Angad Hasija who plays Alekh on the show. While shooting on a beach, the actor created a sand sculpture in the form of a mermaid’s tail around co-star Sara Khan. The visual was so interesting that it was instantly decided that it would be included in the shoot. Angad informs,“We canned the scene, but due to some technical issues we will not be able to air it on the show.”
