Boy killed,six injured in parapet collapse

A three-year-old boy was crushed to death and five other children were critically injured after the parapet of a house in Burari,North Delhi,fell on them Sunday afternoon.

A three-year-old boy was crushed to death and five other children were critically injured after the parapet of a house in Burari,North Delhi,fell on them Sunday afternoon.

A 33-year-old woman was also injured in the collapse.

The six children were playing on the street and the woman,rajkumari,was standing on a balcony when the parapet of the first floor of house number 132-A fell on them,police said.

A fire brigade official said the incident was reported around 2.15 PM from Harijan Basti and three fire tenders were immediately sent to the spot.

“One boy died on the spot. The firemen managed to pull out the other children from the debris and they were immediately taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre,” the fire official said.

The boy who died was a resident of Kamalpuri and had come to Harijan Basti with his father to visit relatives. The injured children have been identified as Rahul (15),Pradeep (14),Tushar (13),Ashish (8),Saloni (11),all residents of the Harijan Basti.

A case of negligence has been registered against the owner of the house. A police official said as the building was very old and the MCD and local police had asked the owner of the house to vacate it. However,he had not followed the order.
