Bookie held for running IPL betting racket

The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police has busted an organised betting racket of the Indian Premier League.

The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police has busted an organised betting racket of the Indian Premier League. Police have recovered a TV,a laptop,44 chargers,60 mobile phones,two remotes,51 mobile phone mikes,two internet USB data cards among other writing material.

“Pawan Arora was running an organised cricket betting racket in his rented house at Rani Bagh and was writing ‘Satta’ during the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Pune Warriors. A decoy customer was sent to his house to offer a deal and a raid was conducted on his signal,” Additional Commissioner of Police,Crime Branch,Ravindra Yadav said.

Police said Arora used a mobile phone line to receive betting rates from the bookies. He then forwarded the rates to his bookies via 68 parallel mobile phone lines,while recording the conversation on other mobile phones.

Pawan told police that he had been running the racket from his rented house for the last two years. He said the other bookies,to whom he provided lines,paid him Rs 3000 a month,whereas,he paid Rs 5000 every month to the main bookie.
