The bodies of a CISF constable and his wife were found in the staff quarters in the CISF camp in Indirapuram,Ghaziabad,on Wednesday night. A police officer said the constable, who worked as a cook, had been absent from work since Monday.
The officer said the two have been identified as Suresh Sharma and his wife Babli. Sharma had not come into work since Monday and the door to his residence was shut from inside. On Wednesday evening,a foul smell emanated from the room. The front door was broken open, and their bodies were discovered, the officer said.
Police said while it was too early to say anything conclusive, prima facie,it seemed that the two were murdered.
While Suresh was found in the bedroom,Babli was found in the bathroom. Post-mortem examination has not confirmed the cause of death, but preliminary investigations suggest that they were smothered to death. Their legs were bound by a rope, the officer said.
So far, nothing appears to have been stolen from the house.
We still have to speak to other family members to check if something was taken, but the scene of crime is not consistent with a robbery. We have to find out if they were murdered, how the door seemed to be locked from inside. Further investigations are underway, a senior officer said.
