Australia gives Rs 10 lakh to NGO to educate girls

Commending the efforts of the NGO, Despoja gave a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to the NGO to educate women and girls.

As part of Australia’s international engagement on gender equality, Australian Ambassador for women and girls Natasha Stott Despoja visited India for the first time on Saturday to promote the cause.

Speaking at an event organised by Asha society at Ambedkar Basti, Despoja said “The international day of the girl child (October 11) not only gives us a chance to assess the progress we’ve made so far, but also reminds us that we have to redouble our efforts to make it a reality.” Despoja interacted with children and women of the basti and asked how education and knowledge on health had changed their lives.

Commending the efforts of the NGO, Despoja gave a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to the NGO to educate women and girls.
