A day after BJP Delhi chief Vijay Goel announced his core team that will play a crucial role in the upcoming Assembly elections,a chaat party organised by Goel was missing some of the key political leaders.

The chaat party, which was supposed to be “for media only”,was attended by BJP president Rajnath Singh,Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley. MP Shahnawaz Hussain,MLA Ramesh Bidhuri,MLA Mohan Singh Bisht and councillors from the three municipal corporations also attended the party.

And among those not invited were Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly V K Malhotra, chief whip in Assembly Sahib Singh Chauhan,MLA unit general secretary S S Ratawal and other leaders such as Harshvardhan,Jagdish Mukhi,Vijendra Gupta and Pravesh Verma.

V K Malhotra said he did not get the invite. “I was not invited officially,is all I can say. I do not want to comment further on this issue,” he said.

Harshvardhan, too, tried to brush away the question. “It is the prerogative of the host to invite. This must have been a private party. I would have certainly gone, had I been invited,” he said.

Sahib Singh Chauhan said: “I am not in town and I did not get invited.”

Pravesh Verma, son of former Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, too had a similar comment. “I am in Jaipur. I was not invited to the party,” he said.

BJP sources said Goel should have invited senior leaders,if national leaders were called.

“This is election year, and feasts are way to interact with party leaders in an informal manner. If senior leaders are missing from such treats, then there is a problem in the party,” a senior leader at the party said.
