Security was stepped up at the Delhi Secretariat’s media centre after a man hurled a shoe at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during a press conference last week.
Four Delhi police personnel stood guard at the gates of the media centre Tuesday, and asked those entering the room for their identity cards. A press conference by Transport Minister Gopal Rai on preparations for Phase II of the odd-even scheme was scheduled for 4 pm.
“After the shoe-throwing incident, we had to step up security. Earlier, just about anybody could enter the media centre which is reserved only for the press. That is how Ved Prakash, the accused, entered on Saturday and managed to throw the shoe at the chief minister,” said an official.
