Delhi-based gallery and auction house Art Bull’s project series “Museum Collection” has had one primary agenda: showcase museum-quality contemporary works. The latest in the series is an exhibition “Museum Collection IV”,which began last week, and brings together works by 32 artists of different schools of art. However, this time,Art Bull has also brought in works by younger artists along with prominent names such as A Ramachandran,MF Husain,Jamini Roy,and Hemendranath Mazumdar.

“For the last two years, the three editions have also focused on emerging artists,” says Siddharth Tagore,Director. Sourced from private collectors and Tagore’s own collection, more than 60 works are on display. While a selection of “Early Bengal School” shows gods and goddesses,a series of chemical alteration on paper created between 1985 to 1993 by Souza shows his iconoclastic faces on postcard-like backgrounds. One of Hemendranath Mazumdar’s women comes alive in an untitled work,a woman in deep blue sari, whereas Sri Lankan modern painter,George Keyt, reflects cubism in his untitled oil work from 1951. Perhaps a fascinating find is Nandalal Bose’s doodle of a woman in a sari, holding a flower,in a letter penned in 1949. There are contemporary artists including The Magic Circle–Homage to Tagore by multi-media artist Waswo X Waswo.

The exhibition is on at Art Bull till June 8. Contact 41077020
