Around town: IAS officer’s cook held for murder of driver

The driver of an IAS officer posted in Mizoram was allegedly murdered by a co-employee in Paharganj area on Monday.

The driver of an IAS officer posted in Mizoram was allegedly murdered by a co-employee in Paharganj area on Monday. According to police,Sanga,the cook entered into a drunken brawl with the officer’s driver Vikram and killed him. The cook allegedly stabbed the driver in the outhouse. A police official said,“The cook used the driver’s mobile phone without his permission that enraged him. Since both of them were under the influence of the alcohol,they entered into a scuffle which later flared up and the cook stabbed the driver.”

1 held for looting cash from ATM machine

Police arrested one person for allegedly stealing from a Punjab National Bank ATM machine in East Delhi’s Madawali area. The accused,identified as Sanjeev,used to first conduct a recce with an associate to identify the ATM machine. He was arrested and a sum of Rs 2,79,500 was recovered,Deputy Commissioner of Police (East),Ajay Kumar said. Police said on Sunday night,the guard posted outside the ATM machine in Mandawali was sleeping when he heard a voice of someone trying to break the machine and raised an alarm.

Two juveniles among 5 held for murder

Five gang members,including two minors,were held here today for allegedly robbing and killing a man who boarded an auto-rickshaw driven by one of them,police said. Police said,the victim,Alok Kumar,had boarded a share auto driven by one of the accused on June 22 to go to Noida from Lal Kuan. The auto driver stopped the vehicle at an isolated place and tried to rob him. When Kumar resisted,he was stabbed to death.
