NEW DELHI:Five persons were arrested and held in Tihar Jail after the establishments they headed defaulted on provident fund dues. In a statement,A K Gupta,Regional PF Commissioner-I,Delhi (North),said the arrests were made by the recovery officer over six months and money was recovered from the defaulters. Employers must remit provident dues and file statutory returns,Gupta said,to avoid coercive action.

One held for murder on Lady Hardinge premises

NEW DELHI:One person was arrested on Monday,on the charge of shooting at a man and his son in the staff quarters of Lady Hardinge Hospital on Sunday. Kailash (34) was killed in the attack,while his father Subhash sustained bullet injuries and was admitted to the hospital. Kailash was a Grade IV employee at the hospital. Police have identified three accused as Manoj (30),Balkisan (61) and Vijay alias Notty. A fourth accused is yet to be identified. Balkisan was arrested on Monday. A senior police officer said: “Manoj and his father Balkisan reportedly barged into Kailash’s house and entered into an argument with him. When Subhash tried to intervene,the accused reportedly attacked him. Manoj shot at Subhash and his associates shot Kailash. The accused fled in a Maruti car.” Police suspect personal rivalry between the families to be the motive behind the murder. Police are yet to record Subhash’s statement.
