A three-day-old girl was found abandoned at a bus stop in Greater Noida on Wednesday night. According to police, the infant was noticed by passers-by around 11.30 pm after which she was rushed to the district hospital in Noida. Doctors at the hospital said the childs condition is stable and she was being kept under observation.
Police said the infant was spotted at the Chhalera bus station near Dadri. People noticed the child as she was crying. They looked around for the parents, but as nobody came forward, they called us. We then rushed the infant to the hospital, where doctors immediately examine dher declared her to be healthy and safe, a police officer said.
Hospitals authorities said the infant did not have any marks of abuse. She is normal and healthy. No claimants have come forward so far. However,we have put her on a drip and kept her under observation as it is not good for an infant to be left exposed to the elements when they are under a week old, said Dr Rahul Singh who attended to the child.
Meena Mishra,CMO of the hospital, said,In case the baby remains unclaimed, she will be handed over to child services. However, there is no hurry at the moment and we will take steps keeping in mind the best interests of the childs health.
Police said they were trying to track the parents of the child by going through the records of nursing homes in and around the area. Though there are very few leads at the moment,we suspect that the child could have been born out of wedlock and left behind. The child was left in a well-dressed state. While nothing has been ruled out,we believe she could belong to well-to-do parents. We are investigating the matter, the officer said.
