AAP’s TROUBLES seem to be far from over with yet another of its MLAs coming under police radar Monday. This time, AAP MLA from Tughlakabad Sahi Ram Pehalwan has been booked under criminal charges of causing hurt and wrongful restraint after he allegedly got into a scuffle with a resident in southeast Delhi’s Okhla.
According to police, the FIR was lodged on the basis of a complaint by the resident, Yogendra Bidhuri. He alleged that the MLA and two of his associates had beaten him up and threatened to kill him after he objected to a road being built outside his house.
According to his complaint, when he objected to the work, Pehalwan and his supporters began to beat him up with sticks and other sharp objects. His family members rushed him to AIIMS from he was discharged after the treatment.
Bidhuri, later approached police and informed them about the matter. A case under sections 324, 505 and 341 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Okhla Industrial Area police station, said police.
He told police that a cemented road was being constructed in a lane outside his house in Tekhand.
An officer said Pehalwan was questioned by a police team. The MLA denied all charges and said he was not present during the incident, added the officer.
“The MLA and the complainant live in the same locality. He told us that he was not present during the scuffle. We are verifying the facts,” said the officer. Pehalwan did not respond to calls despite repeated attempts.
