A 60-year-old man was stabbed and cash and valuables worth over Rs 50 lakh were looted from his home by four assailants in the Sector 55 area of Noida on Monday afternoon. Senior police officers said according to the complaint registered,Gaje Singh Rana and his wife Satyawati were both attacked and the accused threatened to kill Ranas grandson if they informed police about the incident.
According to police,Rana,Satyawati,and their daughter-in-law Geeta were in E-148,Sector 55,when four men rang the doorbell around 12.30 pm. Rana was eating lunch at the time,and his son was at work. Satyawati went to answer the doorbell,following which four armed men barged into the room. They abused Rana and Satyawati,and attacked Rana with a knife. When Geeta heard the commotion,she left the kitchen and attacked one of the accused with a rolling pin. This enraged the robbers further and they intensified the attack on Rana, DSP (Noida) Viswajeet Srivastava said.
The robbers then proceeded to tie up the two women,with Rana lying on the floor bleeding profusely. They decamped with diamond and gold jewellery,cash,mobile phones,and several other valuables. They threatened the family that if they informed the police,they would kill Ranas grandson and told the family that they were aware that he studied at Kothari International School, Srivastava said.
Senior police officers said once the assailants had left,the family called for help,and residents rushed Rana to a nearby hospital where he is in stable condition.
Senior Superintendent of Police Preetinder Singh said: The Crime Branch is looking into the case,and four teams have been formed to investigate the incident. We have recovered CCTV footage from the cameras in the house. A case has been registered under Sections 394 and 307 of the Indian Penal Code. Officers said Ranas son Sanjay Singh Rana is a real estate developer with an office in Noidas Sector 18 area.
