Close to 35 puppies were rescued by a city-based NGO after they were spotted at an empty plot in Sohna Road Monday morning. The puppies are 25-35 days old, said officials of Umeed Animal Care Society.

“One of our volunteers was on her way to drop her daughter to school when she spotted an injured puppy in a vacant plot in Sohna Road. Being an ardent dog lover, she went to take a closer look. Upon closer inspection she found as many as 35 puppies of varying ages. Their mothers could not be seen anywhere. Two of puppies were already dead,” said Nikhil Mahesh, in-charge of the Baliawas Rehabilitation Center where the puppies are being kept now.

However, none of them had injuries that indicated cruelty of any sort, he added. “These puppies might have been picked up from various locations in Gurgaon and left at the spot,” said Mahesh.
