26-year-old man shot dead,mother wounded in Masuri

Police have identified Premveer,who has around 30 criminal cases against him,as the main accused in the case. Ajay was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

A 26-year-old man was shot dead and his mother wounded after an argument over parking,in the Masuri area of Ghaziabad on Tuesday morning. A senior police officer said the man has been identified as Ajay,while his mother Rajbala (62) suffered gunshot wounds on the thigh,and is recuperating.

Police have identified Premveer,who has around 30 criminal cases against him,as the main accused in the case.

The officer said: “Premveer was allegedly with two to three accomplices in his SUV,and parked his vehicle on agricultural land that belongs to Ajay’s family. When Ajay and his mother came out to investigate,an argument ensued between the two parties. However,while driving away,Premveer shot Ajay twice in the chest,and then shot at his mother. The accused then sped away. Ajay was taken to the hospital,where he was declared dead on arrival,while his mother has been declared out of danger.”

Police said several teams had been constituted to apprehend the accused. “Premveer was part of the infamous Hasanpuriya gang that is involved in several cases of murder,attempt to murder,kidnapping and extortion. He operates from Hasanpur village and we hope to apprehend him soon. A case has been registered and further investigations are underway,” a senior officer said.

In another incident,a businessman was shot dead by three assailants while he was returning home from work in the Vaishali area of Ghaziabad on Monday night. Senior police officers have identified the deceased as Ashok Sharma,who runs a jewellery business in the area. “He was returning home on his scooter with his son Gaurav,when three motorcycle-borne assailants cut across their vehicle and stopped them. They tried to rob the duo,but when Sharma resisted,they shot him and fled. Further investigations are underway,” a senior officer said.
