Couple held for bid to snatch case file from investigating officer

A couple were arrested after they tried to snatch a case file from the investigative officer in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The case file belonged to their son against whom a rape case has been registered by the Punjab police. A case was registered against two Punjab residents on the complaint of sub-inspector Shanti, who is posted at the Police Station Dhariwal in Gurdaspur. The police said the accused threatened the complainant and deterred her from discharge of government duty.

The accused have been identified as Kharati Lal and his wife. Lal is a head constable in the Punjab police.

The accused are residents of Hajjupura village in Gurdaspur district of Punjab.
