TWO PERSONS, including a 22-year-old woman, were arrested by a Mohali district police team and 260 gm heroin and 10 gm Ice drugs were seized from them. The seizures are said to be worth Rs 1.5 crore. Police had bene tipped off about the movement of two persons, who were going to deliver drugs to their clients at Kharar. A team, headed by Assistant Sub-Inspector Avtar Singh along with ASI Gurpartap Singh, went to New Sunny Enclave and found a car moving suspiciously. When the police party signalled the driver to stop, he started reversing but the police team intercepted the car by blocking the road.
When the police tried to search the car, the driver, Kuldeep Singh, of Phase 7 and Manpreet Kaur of Sector 40A, Chandigarh, raised objections and started arguing. Kharar DSP Deep Kamal also arrived and the search was carried out in his presence.
The team recovered the drugs from the car and the duo were arrested and booked under relevant Sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
