Idol at Ludhiana temple damaged, security deployed

Unidentified persons allegedly damaged an idol in the premises of Shani Gaon Temple in Ludhiana’s Ladhowal area Tuesday. Tension gripped the area and security was deployed near the temple to avert any unroward incident.

An FIR was registered under sections 295 A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or reli­gious beliefs) of IPC against unidentified persons on the complaint of the priest Dinesh Kumar. Inspector Varinderpal Singh, SHO Ladhowal police station, said that devotees noticed the damaged idol in the morning and informed the police. He said that no untoward incident was reported after that but security was deployed as a precautionary measure.
