Man who robbed elderly at ATMs arrested

A 35-year-old man has been arrested by the Vijayanagar police for allegedly cheating senior citizens at ATMs. T K Aravind alias Anil of KR Nagar in Mysore district was a caretaker at Bangalore Race Course. He lost a lot of money in betting on horses and allegedly began targeting seniors. The police said Aravind spent a lot of time observing people using ATMs and robbed the elderly on the pretext of helping them withdraw money. He offered to enter the PIN for them,and also withdrew money for himself. After receiving several complaints,Deputy Commissioner of Police D C Rajappa formed a team under inspector K Venkatesh that nabbed Aravind and recovered Rs 3.1 lakh from him.

Electrician killed at construction site

A 24-year-old man was electrocuted at a construction site along 6th Main Road in Vijayanagar Wednesday evening. The police said Ram Kishore,an electrician,was trying to operate a drill. They are likely to book the building owner and the contractor for negligence.

Software engineer found dead

A 25-year-old software engineer was found dead in his house in Jai Bheema Nagar near Madiwala Wednesday morning. The police suspect Nikhil Raja,who worked with a leading IT firm,died of an illness. His roommate returned from work to find him dead. Raja had undergone a surgery of the lungs a year ago and sought further treatment on October 14. The police said they did not know the cause of the death but insisted it was not a suicide.
