Accusing the police of not registering a case under pressure, the family of a Moga youth, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday afternoon, held a dharna outside the civil hospital on Wednesday.

The youth,Parveen, was found dead in a commercial complex, that belonged to a local business man, whom he had allegedly attacked two years ago. Parveen had been booked for the attack and was out on bail. His family members now claim that the businessman was behind the youth’s death.

“Parveen’s body was found in the building owned by this businessman and we all know that he wanted to take revenge. This businessman enjoys close relations with local leaders of the ruling party and thus police are not taking action,” alleged Ajay,Parveen’s brother.

Moga SSP Surjit Singh Grewal, who reached the protest site and tried to calm down the agitators, denied the claims. “An FIR will be registered after we get the post mortem report. Only then will we know the exact cause of death.” Meanwhile, doctors, who conducted the post mortem, have reportedly not found any marks of any internal or external injuries.

“We found out that Parveen had gone to meet this businessman. There were other people also present when Parveen came. He wanted the businessman to make him the witness in the attack case which would have helped him come out of jail. The businessman refused saying as the case was in the court. Parveen fell unconscious at the shop and his family was immediately informed. They came and first took him to a local hospital after which he was referred to Faridkot but he died on the way. So we can not book any one till the time we know the cause of death,” SSP Grewal added.
