Youth commits suicide

An 18-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in the forest area on the rear of the Vishwa Kalin Mandir near Sector 55/56 dividing road on Sunday.

An 18-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in the forest area on the rear of the Vishwa Kalin Mandir near Sector 55/56 dividing road on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Tilak Raj alias Atul. No suicide note has been found.

The incident came to light around 1.15 pm when a passer-by saw the body and informed the police control room. Raj,who had come to Chandigarh from Bareilly five months ago,was staying with his maternal aunt and uncle in Azad Colony in Sector 54. The police said he was employed as a sweeper.

According to the police,Raj left home early on Sunday morning saying he was returning to Bareilly.

His aunt also told the police that the deceased was suffering from depression and used to drink a lot. When she told him to improve his ways on Saturday evening,he said will go back to his village.

The police have begin investigations under Section 174 of the CrPC.
