Young golfers honoured at CGC

Taking note of performance of young golfers in the junior camps conducted at the Chandigarh Golf Club in the year 2012,as many as 40 children in the age group of 5 to 14 years were honoured by the Academy of Golf in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

Taking note of performance of young golfers in the junior camps conducted at the Chandigarh Golf Club in the year 2012,as many as 40 children in the age group of 5 to 14 years were honoured by the Academy of Golf in Chandigarh on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion,captain of the course,Sandeep Sandhu,said “We want maximum children to participate in the camps and also in the junior golf tournaments. We want to learn the nitty-gritty of the sports and excel further. It is imperative for budding golfers to hone their skills by taking part in as many tournaments.” He applauded the efforts of Directors of the academy,Harmeet Kalhon and Manjit Kochar for conducting the junior golf programs. In addition to this,12 children from DPS Khanna were also honoured by the academy. The event was sponsored by Indo Canadian Golf Association (ICGA) Canada. Ray Sidhu President,Gian Paul,Director Public Relations and Didar Banwant Diretor were also present. The joint director of the academy,Kochar said that the academy will be holding camps and tournaments for children in the future and maintain the standards.

Boxing trials on March 3

Trials to select Chandigarh senior men’s boxing team for participation in the 20th All India A K Misra Boxing Championships to be held at Chandigarh,will be held on March 3 at PML SD Public School,Sector 32,Chandigarh at 5.00 PM. All Chandigarh boxers who are already registered with Indian Amateur Boxing Federation,are required to bring the Medical Book of the Federation along with them.

Basketball trials on March 1

The Sports Department,Chandigarh Administration is conducting trials to select the Chandigarh Civil Services basketball team on March 1 at Sports Complex,Sector 46,Chandigarh at 4:00 PM. All the full-fledged departments of Chandigarh Administration (U.T.) are eligible to take part in the trials. All the participants should carry individual Identity Cards for verification of eligibility criteria. The selected team will represent Chandigarh Civil Services basketball team for participation in the All India Civil Services Basketball Tournament to be held from March 21 to March 24 at Port Blair.
