In a first-of-its kind initiative in Haryana, the Rohtak range Inspector General of Police has launched a strategy to enhance the usage of video-conferencing during crime trials in Rohtak,Sonepat,Panipat and Jhajjar districts.

Under the novel strategy, the IGP Alok Mittal has asked district superintendents of police to identify a sensational case which is under trial and make full use of video conferencing throughout the trial of the case — from recording the statements of witnesses till the court’s verdict.

According to Mittal, this will not only expedite the trials in courts but the accused will also not be able to intimidate witnesses deposing against them.
