Week after incident,FIR lodged against four

A week after he was found in an injured state from a secluded spot in Sector 28 of Panchkula,the Chandigarh police on Friday registered an FIR on charges of theft,wrongful restraint,furtherance of common intention against four unknown persons.

A week after he was found in an injured state from a secluded spot in Sector 28 of Panchkula,the Chandigarh police on Friday registered an FIR on charges of theft,wrongful restraint,furtherance of common intention against four unknown persons.

Ajay Tanwar,a Sector 23 resident,had alleged that he was robbed by unknown persons who had abducted him from Chandigarh and dumped him in Panchkula on July 15. The complainant had earlier alleged that the four unidentified men were in police uniform and had signalled him to stop for checking. Tanwar was in his car when the incident occurred. He alleged that the miscreants had drugged him and took him in their Gypsy.

Significantly,the complainant has now alleged that the miscreants took away Rs 23 lakh,a gold chain,gold ring and some documents from his vehicle. The FIR was registered after Tanwar was found fit to record a statement. He was admitted to PGIMER after the incident.

“He was discharged from the hospital and was fit to make a statement. After recording his detailed statement,we registered an FIR today,” said Inspector Anokh Singh,SHO,Sector 26,Chandigarh. Tanwar works in a garment store in Sector 20. He had been on a business trip to Kashmir for the past two months. On July 14,the garment store owner informed the police that Ajay was missing but this had not been confirmed yet.
